Biden’s LNG ‘pause’ threatens Pennsylvania’s natural gas industry

Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) writes in The Hill about the problems with the Biden administration’s pause on natural gas exports.

The C3 Take
  • Pennsylvania is the second largest natural gas producer in the country, accounting for one-fifth of the nation’s total production.
  • The Biden administrations pause on future LNG exports hurts investment in the sector which would hamper production and economic growth in the Keystone State.
  • U.S. natural gas is cleaner than fossil fuels produced over seas and should be a part of our energy strategy.

“No one is against protecting the environment. In fact, that is one of the biggest benefits of natural gas — it is perhaps the cleanest fossil fuel on the market today. It is also abundant and affordable. That abundance is what propelled the United States to become the global leader in LNG exports in 2023, surpassing longtime leaders Qatar and Australia.”
