Power reports that Rondo Energy and Aramco are partnering up for hydrogen production.
- Aramco and Rondo Energy have signed a memorandum of understanding to conduct engineering studies for deploying Rondo’s thermal energy storage and heat battery technology at Aramco facilities, potentially scaling up to 1 GWh capacity.
- The companies will explore using Rondo’s technology for hydrogen production, carbon capture, and solar desalination applications, as Aramco aims to achieve net-zero operational emissions by 2050.
- Rondo’s technology stores clean industrial-scale heat with clay bricks that store more energy than a Tesla Model X.
“Rondo Heat Batteries store energy in long-proven brick materials that can be cost-effectively produced with Saudi Arabia’s mineral resources. The companies will assess the potential of establishing large-scale energy storage manufacturing in that country.”
