  • Investing in infrastructure is one issue that still enjoys bipartisan support.
  • While investing money to upgrade our roads and bridges is important, Congress should also focus on regulatory reform.
  • One such regulation that is in need of reform is the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), which delays energy and infrastructure projects through its antiquated permitting process.
  • The best way to upgrade our nation’s infrastructure is not by spending more money, but instead by spending money more effectively. Congress and the Biden administration would do well to understand that.

As the country crawls out from under the weight of a 14-month pandemic-induced economic downturn, we can’t afford to waste limited taxpayer resources. Spending must be effective and done efficiently and Congress should focus as much – if not more – on removing obstacles that keep private sector investment on the sidelines as they do in creating new government programs. ”
