ADM signs CO2 pipeline deal to capture, store ethanol plant emissions

Reuters reports on a new CO2 pipeline.

  • Archer-Daniels-Midland (ADM) Co. has signed a letter of intent with Wolf Carbon Solutions to build a carbon capture pipeline from ADM’s ethanol plants in Iowa to a carbon storage plant in Decatur, Illinois.
  • In the last decade ADM has sequestered and stored 3.5 million tons of CO2 at its carbon storage facility in Decatur.
  • The pipeline will be 350 miles long and capable of transporting 12 million tons of carbon dioxide annually.
  • Private sector leadership is leading the way in addressing climate change.

“Capturing and storing carbon generated by its grain and oilseed processing facilities allows ADM to offer lower-carbon ingredients to its customers, many of whom have committed to reducing their own supply-chain emissions.”
