Vistra’s Comanche Peak nuclear power plant licence extended to 2053

Power Technology reports that Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant in Texas has received a 20-year license extension.

  • Nuclear power met 8% of Texas’ electricity needs in 2022.
  • Comanche Peak’s two reactors have a capacity of 2,400 megawatts and provide employment to 600 staff and more than 200 permanent contractors.
  • The extension of Comanche Peak is a win for consumers in Texas, the state’s power grid, and the environment.
