- The Department of Energy (DOE) will award funding through the Carbon Capture Demonstration Projects which was created in the bipartisan infrastructure law.
- Of the $2.5 billion that DOE is offering, $1.7 billion will go to six commercial-scale carbon capture projects that are integrated with carbon transportation and geological storage infrastructure.
- DOE is looking to competitively award projects to the private sector at two coal plants, two natural gas plants, and two industrial facilities.
- Public-private partnerships that advance early-stage demonstration are crucial to advancing energy innovation.
“The program focuses on projects that can be replicated at power plants and major industrial sources of carbon emissions, such as cement, pulp and paper, iron and steel plants, the department said.”
