- Lithos has created an innovative solution to capture CO2.
- The startup spreads the dust of crushed basalt onto croplands which, when wet from rain, reacts with water and carbon dioxide to form a dissolved bicarbonate.
- This process also releases nutrients into the soil which increase crop health.
- The company sells carbon credits to companies and shares its profit with farmers that they partner with.
“The startup uses software to custom-deploy the basalt rock based on variables such as soil chemistry and crop nutrition. The software also measures carbon removal volume.”
