- The Spanish town of Carmona is using solar power and agriculture to protect bees while producing carbon free energy.
- Carmona is managing 50 to 60 beehives with high-tech beehives that have sensors that prevent disease and regulate a liveable habitat.
- The town has also begun planting pollinator-friendly crops like sage, rosemary, and oregano.
“In this photovoltaic installation, the solar plant project — 100 MW and 200 hectares — combines agricultural usage — 3 hectares of aromatic plants: sage, rosemary, oregano, and coriander — and beekeeping with 50 or 60 hives.”
