Climate Change: The Technologies That Could Make All the Difference

Patricia Price writes in The Wall Street Journal about technologies that could play a major role in addressing climate change.

  • As the need to address climate change becomes more urgent, innovators are creating solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • One technology that shows promise is direct air capture, which removes CO2 directly from the atmosphere and stores it underground.
  • Another innovation is the small modular nuclear reactor which companies such as NuScale and TerraPower will bring to the market later this decade.
  • To meaningfully address climate change, we will need private sector leadership and technological breakthroughs.

“Climate experts on a United Nations panel recently expressed concern about the state of climate science, saying the past decade saw the highest average yearly greenhouse-gas emissions from human activities ever recorded. Countries, they said, must make major, rapid shifts away from fossil fuels if they have any hope of meeting goals laid out in the 2015 Paris Climate Accords.”
