The C3 Take
  • Swedish company Svensk Kärnbränslehantering AB (SKB)’s spent fuel repository will be able to store 12,000 tons of spent nuclear fuel and will have an underground deposition area that will reach depths of 500 meters.
  • The building of the repository has been green lit by the Swedish government, but final construction will not be completed until the mid 2080’s.
  • Finland will complete the construction of a spent fuel disposal site in 2023 which is being built by Posiva, SKB’s Finnish counterpart.
