Jamie Hailstone writes in Forbes on a new study on ocean microplastics.
- A new study from Swiss-based Environmental Action has found that particles of paint account for 58% of all microplastics in the ocean.
- Previous research suggested that paint particles accounted for 9-21% of ocean microplastics.
- Environmental Action estimates that 37% of paint leakage is a result of waste mismanagement and 18% is from wear and tear from shipping.
