The C3 Take
  • N2 is a Norwegian company that is reducing livestock methane emissions with artificial lightning.
  • Using nitrogen from the air and a 50 kilowatt plasma torch, N2 locks in the methane and nitrogen emissions of cow waste and produces an odorless liquid fertilizer.
  • Independent testing shows that N2’s technology reduces the methane emissions of cow waste by 99% and cuts the ammonia emissions by 95%.
  • Private sector innovation is advancing durable climate solutions.

“Methane has a higher heat-trapping potential than CO2 but it breaks down in the atmosphere faster, meaning deep cuts in methane emissions by 2030 could have a rapid impact on slowing global warming.”
