Amazon funds two climate tech firms as third gains ground

  • The Amazon Climate Fund has invested Series A funding into two climate-related startups.
  • Amogy, which received close to $20 million from the Climate Fund, is a Brooklyn-based startup that is looking to decarbonize maritime shipping with liquid ammonia and hydrogen.
  • The second climate tech firm that recently received funding is Hippo Harvest, a California-based agriculture company that is slashing emissions and food waste from farming.
  • Entrepreneurs and innovators are creating technologies that are needed to reduce emissions.

“[Amogy] co-founder and CEO Seonghoon Woo told Axios its mission is to use energy-dense liquid ammonia for producing zero-emissions vessels, as marine shipping is one of the hardest sectors to convert from fossil fuels.”
