- WasteFuel, a startup that is being backed by shipping giant Maersk, is looking to turn farm waste such as corn husks and discarded wheat straw into clean “bio-methanol” for the shipping industry.
- It is estimated that using this clean biofuel could reduce cargo ship emissions by 70 to 80%.
- WasteFuel is aiming to open its first bio-methanol plant in the coming years.
- The free market is voluntarily finding ways to meaningfully reduce emissions.
