More than 200 companies joined a pledge to hit net-zero carbon by 2040

Alexis Benveniste of CNN Business reports that more than 200 companies have signed on to Amazon’s Climate Pledge.

  • Amazon’s Climate Pledge, which commits to being carbon-neutral by 2040, now has over 200 companies as signatories.
  • Companies that have signed on to the pledge include tech companies such as Twitter and Salesforce, and food and beverage companies such as Nespresso.
  • Through free markets and innovation, the private sector is showing that it is serious in addressing climate change.

“Together, the signatories of the climate pledge generate more than $1.8 trillion in total global annual revenue and have more than 7 million employees across 26 industries in 21 countries, according to Amazon (AMZN). Visa (V), Pepsi (PEP), Heineken (HEINY) and Alaska Airlines (ALK) are among the list of companies that already signed on to the Climate Pledge earlier this year.”
