Hyzon and Chevron-backed fuel company to make hydrogen in California

Cole Rosengren of Utility Dive reports that Republic Services will make green hydrogen in California.

  • Republic Services, a waste management company, has reached an agreement with renewable fuels company Raven SR to produce 2,000 metric tons of green hydrogen per year.
  • Raven SR has recently come off of a $20 million round of funding from investors such as Chevron, and will use the funds to build out its hydrogen fleet for truck manufacturer, Hyzon.
  • Markets, not mandates, are creating a cleaner energy future.

“Trucking’s ‘strong energy density’ provides notable range benefits for long-haul, heavy-duty fleets, Kaye said. Hydrogen fuel cells are also considered attractive because they offer quicker fueling times than other diesel alternatives.”
