As James Thornhill of Bloomberg writes, Australian businessman and billionaire Andrew Forrest has stated that his company, Fortescue, will begin its own clean fuel production by as soon as 2022.
- The international businessman will steer his company to a diverse production of energy through many sources, including hydro, wind, and solar; while also focusing on hydrogen and ammonia production, two less explored energy alternatives.
- Their goal is to develop a capacity of 235 Gigawatts of energy.
- The focus right now is on Australia, and the company will be oriented towards changing its current iron ore operations towards clean energy power.
“’We reached a decision that there was enough renewable energy in the world to last mankind for all time,’ Forrest, Fortescue’s chairman and founder, said Monday. ‘We just had to apply the technology and the scale which we’ve done successfully at Fortescue to make sure renewable fuel competes against fossil fuels.'”
