The Nuclear Decommissioning Collaborative has recently released a report that investigates the socioeconomic impacts of communities where nuclear power plants have shut down. The report found that these communities face job loss, higher electricity costs, and higher carbon emissions.

“Upon closure, the socioeconomic ripple effects are swift, severe and widespread, with local public services suffering significant cutbacks, especially to schools and emergency responders, fire and police.”
