Colorado cement plant aims to be first in U.S. to capture carbon on a commercial scale

Judith Kohler of The Denver Post reports that a Colorado cement plant is planning to capture carbon on a commercial scale.

The cement sector is a major emitter of carbon dioxide worldwide. Having a successful method of sequestering carbon in cement could potentially effectively reduce global emissions.

“LafargeHolcim, a global building materials supplier, has received a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to research and develop a system to capture and sequester the plant’s carbon dioxide emissions.”
