Former Rep. Adam Putnam (R-FL) writes about the need to support conservation efforts in this year’s Farm Bill.

The C3 Take
  • Farmers are our first environmentalists and are voluntarily investing in new ways to improve the environment and feed America.
  • Thanks to technological advancements and innovative thinking, America’s farmers are now producing more food with less land and a smaller emissions footprint.
  • Lawmakers should continue to support the environmental leadership of our farmers by investing in research and development and implementing tax policies that reduce the barriers to purchasing newer, more efficient equipment.

“The farm bill is one of the few remaining bipartisan endeavors left in Washington, and it’s critically important to the livelihood of farmers and ranchers, rural economies, wildlife conservation and our nation’s food supply. With a continued focus on agricultural conservation in the 2023 Farm Bill package, Congress can demonstrate its intent to support the men and women who feed our nation while facilitating the collaborative work championed by conservation organizations.”
