The unsexy but incredibly powerful key to fight climate change: Reform permitting

  • One of the largest barriers to the rapid deployment of clean technologies and sustainable solutions is an inefficient and largely outdated permitting system.
  • Permitting and approval under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), for example, delays projects by years, driving up costs and disincentivizing investments.
  • In order to address climate change, the United States should look to streamline and reform our current permitting and approval system to allow innovation and the private sector to thrive.
